Abstract:
We will present a generic model for calculating flexibility potential: developed, demonstrated, and evaluated through a case study in Austria. While the approach is applicable to a wide range of assets, the analysis focuses on heat pumps and electric vehicles as representative technologies. The study quantified their flexibility potential, taking into account technical, economic, behavioural, and regulatory conditions, ensuring that the results reflect the multidimensional nature of flexibility as well as its limiting factors. Key parameters are identified and assessed according to their influence on overall flexibility potential, and corresponding policy measures are identified to address these influencing factors in order to enhance demand-side flexibility.
