EmPOWERing All in the energy transition: Outcomes and lessons learned from the Users TCP task on Gender and Energy

Abstract:

The next webinar in our series presented the outcomes of Phase 1 of the Users TCP Task ‘EmPOWERing All: Gender in policy and implementation for achieving transitions to sustainable energy’ . This task has gathered researchers from the fields of gender and energy in a global network to analyse energy policy and technologies with the aim to promote gender perspectives being applied to design a more efficient and inclusive energy system, and through this also support ongoing efforts to foster energy transitions.

We have gathered the current state of the art of gender, policy and energy use literature to map existing knowledge and good practice, as well as worked with policy and technology design using gender frameworks. In this talk, we will present the main outcomes of our work, as well as outline the upcoming work envisioned in Phase 2 of the Task..

The work under the EmPOWERing All Task Phase 1 took place from 2021 and will end in the fall of 2024. Phase 2 of the Task will start in February 2025. Participating countries included Australia, Austria, Ireland, Netherlands, Sweden, USA.
